Expressionismes figuratius II

This is the second exhibition that Galeria Marc Domènech has devoted to the Figurative Expressionisms series. The show brings together works by artists who, while drawing on representations of reality, use painting to convey emotions, concerns and inner experiences. The figures depicted move away from any strictly descriptive or naturalistic intention and become vehicles for intense emotional expression. Through vigorous brushwork, altered forms and a considerable degree of formal freedom, these works explore profound aspects of the human condition, revealing feelings of vulnerability, unease, isolation and personal quest. The result is a body of work that invites an introspective reading and places emphasis on the psychological and emotional dimensions of the human figure.

This artistic tendency is remarkably wide-ranging, encompassing virtually the entire second half of the 20th century and, in some cases, maintaining close links with Surrealism, Art Informel, the COBRA group and even the Italian Transavantgarde. In order to convey this varied amalgam, works by the following artists have been selected: Eduard Arranz-Bravo, Miquel Barceló, Rafael Bartolozzi, Armand Cardona Torrandell, Luis Claramunt, Esther Boix, Antoni Clavé, Germán Cueto, Jean Dubuffet, Apel·les Fenosa, Baltasar Lobo, Henri Michaux, Santi Moix, Zoran Music
