image description

Co-organized with the Almela-Solsona Foundation (Madrid), this exhibition aims to fill an immense and unjustifiable void. A monographic and anthological exhibition of his work has never been held in Barcelona, the birthplace of Alberto Solsona (Barcelona, 1947 – Madrid, 1988). Now you can see, for the first time and in the same space, an individual sample of the different registers that he used throughout his short but intense artistic practice, from his “pop” works, characteristics of an acidic, committed and with a strong critical-social content; until his first artistic maturity marked by a controlled and balanced abstract painting, which established, from the beginning, prudent distances with the more expressionist and gestural abstraction that, apart from the figurative rehabilitation that partly identifies the 80s, still occurred. in those years.
With the recovery of Alberto Solsona’s work we want to begin a series of exhibitions that, under the title “Rediscovered Artists”, wish to give a voice to artists who, like him, have remained immersed in silence for too long. This series of exhibitions, together with those presented under the names “Vanguards of the 20th Century” and “Contemporary Art”, will complete the three lines of work that we at the gallery set as objectives to achieve a year ago.
