Biography

Barcelona, 1886 – Barcelona, 1969

During his youth he frequently visited “Els Quatre Gats”, which allowed him to meet a large number of intellectuals and artists of the time. Apart from his pictorial production, De Sucre also practices poetry, frequently participates in intellectual gatherings and regularly collaborates with the Literary Gazette, even, in 1906, he began his activity as an art critic. He exhibited for the first time individually at the Dalmau Galleries (Barcelona, ​​1922).

De Sucre is one of the main promoters of the most important artistic activities that took place in Catalonia, such as the Cercle Maillol (1945) or the October Salon (1948), always in favor of the most avant-garde and innovative trends.
