Barcelona, 1942
An artist outside trends and fashions, builder of his own language, Antoni Llena was born in Barcelona in 1942 and very soon began to work on his sculptures using the most humble materials as a base.
The basis of his work is the manipulation of paper, without this impeding the three-dimensional work in which he experiments with this same material, tearing it and transforming it into sculptural material. With his use of materials he achieves results of subtle classicism and a disturbing contemporaneity.
The final appearance is quiet, naked and solitary, like the artist’s own career.
