Crystals Deposited

Crystals Deposited

Cristaux déposés après l’effervescent contact de l’esprit avec la réalité
(Pierre Reverdy)
This exhibition project is born with the simple desire to help us temporarily move away from the uncertainties that surround us these days. We will periodically add a piece to the ones already selected and we would like each of them to become a spark that could inspire us as well as help us understand ourselves as both an individual and a society. Let us be uplifted by these works, read them as a poem and bear in mind that they are true “crystals deposited after the effervescent contact of the spirit with reality”.
_Pablo Gargallo
(…) Regard
La victoire avant tout sera
De bien voir au loin
De tout voir
De près
Et que tout ait un nom nouveau.
(Guillaume Apollinaire, ‘La victoire’, 1918)
_Joan Rabascall
Time present and time past
Are both perhaps present in time future,
And time future contained in time past.
If all time is eternally present
All time is unredeemable.
What might have been is an abstraction
Remaining a perpetual possibility
Only in a world of speculation.
What might have been and what has been
Point to one end, which is always present.

Todo pasa
Es una rueda este mundo,
donde la noche al día releva,
la desventura a la suerte,
la alegría a la tristeza.
Apuntala al bien el mal,
al temperamento lo serena,
como en la boca de un pozo
baja y sube el cubo,
el lleno delante el vacío,
el vacío delante el lleno.
(Jacint Verdaguer, ‘Todo pasa’, 1898)

Choose life choose life venerable Childhood
The ribbon coming out of a fakir
Resembles the playground slide of the world
Though the sun is only a shipwreck
Insofar as a woman’s body resembles it
You dream contemplating the whole length of its trajectory
Or only while closing your eyes on the adorable storm named your hand
Choose life
(André Breton, ‘Choose Life’, 1923)

“Listen, my son: the silence.
It’s a rolling silence,
a silence
where valleys and echoes slip,
and it bends foreheads
down towards the ground.”
(Federico García Lorca, ‘Silence’, 1921-22)
_Antoni Tàpies
“When most I wink, then do mine eyes best see,
For all the day they view things unrespected;
But when I sleep, in dreams they look on thee,
And darkly bright, are bright in dark directed.
(…)
All days are nights to see till I see thee,
And nights bright days when dreams do show thee me.”
(William Shakespeare, ‘Sonnet XLIII’, 1609)
_Joan Miró
“All events are linked in the best of all possible worlds; (…) – That is very well said, replied Candide, but we must cultivate our garden.”
(Voltaire, “Candide, or Optimism”, 1759)

To be an artist is to believe in life

Trust in time, as it often offers a sweet way out to many bitter difficulties.
